What does it cost?
Renters pay nothing to BorrowGears — your rental payment goes entirely to the lender. Lenders pay $4.99/month for unlimited listings and keep 100% of rental income (no per-rental commission).
Is it safe to rent from strangers?
Lenders can opt into Stripe Identity verification, which shows up as a green badge on their listing and profile. Both parties digitally sign a rental agreement before handoff, and the check-in / check-out steps upload condition photos that both the renter and the lender can see on the booking page — shared evidence if anything goes sideways.
What happens if I damage a tool?
BorrowGears is a listing platform — damage is resolved directly between the renter and lender under the rental agreement both signed at handoff, which records the tool’s replacement value. We don’t provide damage insurance or a deposit escrow today. For high-value equipment, a short-term rider on homeowners or renters insurance is a good idea.
